[Between Ma and Ma]

Ma in Japanese is the perception of space and time, the interval between two moments, the silence between one sound and another, the pause that enriches the meaning of a frequency. The distance created between two things or actions, a moment of suspension that allows the spirit to emerge, a spiritual space-time where the mind stops, to resonate with what is and is not, what exists and what doesn’t exist. When there is emptiness, anything can happen! Connecting with this space-time in dance and music allows the emptiness to become a perceptible entity, giving body and form to the invisible. In this eternal and vibrant void, everything is constantly transforming, as nature teaches us. Yet, from another perspective, no change or movement takes place within it. In this interval, it is possibile to experience reality as free from time and space, in the eternal omnipresence of the Here and Now. Through music and dance, by resonating with the vibrant void that permeates everything, it is possible to dissolve the universe into one’s consciousness at any moment and re-emit it the next moment.

Ma to Ma was presented at Spazio Continuum, in Milan in 2016.
