Kyoto Tonight is a dreamlike journey, a stream of consciousness in which images, scents, ancient and contemporary sensations blend together, transporting the viewer beyond time.
Nestled among ancient temples, the Gion district is home to teahouses, geishas, and oiran, where spirituality and eroticism merge, permeated by redundant technological innovation.
Butoh dance becomes an expression of this dimension: a dance of the unconscious, of thoughts and feelings buried deep within, of transformation and compassion. It is an inner journey in search of awareness, freedom from social and cultural limitations, and a return to the body’s original memory.
