Butoh dance and live music improvisation
Butoh dance: Atsushi Takenouchi and Kea Tonetti
live music: Hiroko Komiya and Tivitavi
Discovering the essence of the flower’s life within yourself, this is Butoh. Zeami and Kan’ami wrote about the essence of the flower in
Kadensho, a 14th-century treatise on Noh Theater. Kazuo Ohno and Yoshito Ohno, founders of Butoh dance with Tatsumi Hijikata, spoke deeply and repeatedly about the spirit of the flower. The flower is Beauty and, at the same time, it is transience and frailty, seen not as a symbol of exteriority, but as an intuition of the existence of an ineffable world, impossible to define, yet real.
“To connect our life with the life of flowers. We still are on our way. Embrace this flower, until the end of our life. Again and again”
Atsushi Takenouchi
The performance was presented at Spazio Tadini in Milan, in 2014.
