In Sanskrit, Kha is the empty space of the heart, the place from which everything emerges and to which everything returns. In eternal and infinite space-time, creation is a free, spontaneous, and natural game.
The CompagniaKha was founded in 2008 by Kea Tonetti, dancer and choreographer, and Tivitavi, sound and visual artist. Since then, they have been performing Butoh dance with live acoustic and electronic sounds. Their research into spirituality, the body, and art is reflected in their poetics, giving rise to cathartic events of great natural magic.
“As artists, we aim to reveal what lies deep within human beings—their unconscious, their myths, their tragedies, their follies—and to reconnect with the forces of Nature and the Universe, from darkness to light, expanding Consciousness. Entering a parallel space-time, Presence expands, archetypes begin to dance and speak.
The performance takes place each time in the present: the spectator is a sacred observer and part of the performance. Witnessing with their presence, they allow an inner transformation and catharsis to take place.
In our works, we invoke a state, an archetype, a spirit to manifest itself, but what happens each time is different, unique, and unrepeatable, because it happens in the present, in union with those who witness and participate in the ritual itself.
The wave cannot become one with the ocean unless it renounces its individuality. The ritual has the power to take you to that space-time where you become part of the ocean. In that silence, Kha permeates everything and allows the waves to resonate within the human soul.”
In addition to their performance practice, Kea Tonetti and Tivitavi offer weekly classes and workshops in studio and in nature, where they share their research in Butoh dance, Sensitive Dance®, sound, and voice.
