Butoh Dance, Sensitive Dance® and Tarot of Marseille Workshop

The Tarot of Marseille represents a journey of the soul and a path towards awareness and liberation. In the journey of the Major Arcana, from the Fool to the World, each stage has value in itself, but is better understood when considered in the entirety of the journey. The Tarot of Marseille is like a mirror, showing us what we have inside. It is a sacred art, whose language is based on symbols, colors, and numbers, and where each arcana represents an archetype, an energy, a spirit, a memory. The Minor Arcana connect us with our four energies: the body and matter, the creative and sexual energy, the heart and emotions, the mind and vision. The study of Tarot is search for Beauty as a reflection of Truth. It opens up to love and creativity, and expands our consciousness.
In the workshop, through Butoh dance, we will dance the energy of some Arcana, and open a vision on the journey of the Soul of the Tarot of Marseille. We will connect with the wonder of our body, our sacred home, experiencing it in union with creative energy, the heart, the mind and the spirit. We will allow dance to emerge naturally, in the breath of the present moment. We will nourish Presence and Being, letting forms become expressions of the soul.
The proposed training combines, in an original and organic way, Sensitive Dance® with preparatory practices for Butoh, allowing us to: seek organic movement, listening to the body messages, nurture our sensations and our roots in relation to the earth, learn to move from the center; release tension, explore the subtle movements that arise from the skeleton and support dance; practice a conscious touch, which listens, and awakens a vital movement; rediscover a verticality that breathes, connected to our center, a place of peace that unites the energy of the earth and the sky; nurture the state in which we are danced.
In Butoh dance, the body, mind, heart, and soul dance in unison, Consciousness expands, transporting us to another space-time, a “dream time”, where the unconscious, strengths and weaknesses, spirits, archetypes and mystery dance.
To dance Butoh, we enter a meditative state of “emptiness” and return to the “empty body” of the origins, a natural body, free from social and cultural limitations, in a state where we are danced. When the body and Being are in contact with this vibrant emptiness, which permeates Creation, we are free to dance the beauty and mystery of every manifestation of life, and creation becomes spontaneous, natural, and free. A dance of transformation, embodying the spirit or energy of Nature, the human soul, inner landscapes, the Arcana.
During the workshop, everyone will have the opportunity to draw their own card, and receive a reading, then dance it, incorporating its energy and creating a simple costume that helps to enter the universe of the arcane. Each arcane carries with it a strength, a fragility, a teaching, a transformation, awakening inner consciousness and creativity, nourishing one’s life and dance. The birth of a dance is a moment of openness, where we can feel a great force and love being released, to experience eroticism, sensuality, the feeling of things, catharsis, to expand Consciousness, to create a ritual.
The workshop will be accompanied by live music by Tivitavi (Tibetan bowls, gongs, didjeridoo, percussion, stones, natural sounds, electronic sounds, flutes and vocals).

This training and experience are useful for both the performing arts and the growth of personal and human consciousness. The course is aimed at anyone who wishes to undertake a journey of awareness through the body: dancers, performers, actors, artists, therapists, educators, psychologists, people on a path of personal research. No dance training is necessary.
