Dance – Kea Tonetti
Live-music – Tivitavi
Duration – 45’ long version – 30’ short version
Mothersea, the mother of all forms of water, who gives life and death and whose nature is benevolent and terrifying at the same time. Altered by human hand, wrapped and incorporated in plastic, she assumes the face of shapeless mermaids, of sea monsters, of the mythological Medusa, of a so many innocent lives that have been lost; symbols of human attachment, fear and suffering. Metaphor for falling far away of the Gods, where being human is more and more separated from the magnificence of Nature, which always wins in the end, because is eternal. And humans? Maybe they can save themselves only by going back to thank praying, offering songs, rites and respecting the Mothersea.
Mothersea, you who flow in my spine and give me life,
I honour you, I respect you and pray to you,
Alleviate the suffering, the pain and the ignorance….
Oh great Goddess, whose face is benevolent and terrific,
May I humbly worship your magnificence,
welcome your gifts and offer you a dance.
