Discovering the essence of a flower inside yourself, this is Butoh. Zeami and Kan’ami wrote about the essence of the flower in Kadensho, a treatise of Noh Theater of the Fourteenth Century. Kazuo Ohno and Yoshito Ohno, who together with Tatsumi Hijikata co-founded the Butoh, spoke deeply and repeatedly about the spirit of the flower. The flower is Beauty and at the same time it is transience and frailty, if you see it not as a symbol of appearances, but as an insight in the existence of a world that is inexpressible, impossible to pin down, but still so real.

To connect our life with the life of flowers.

We still are on our way.

Embrace this flower, until the end of our life.

Again and again.
